The September 2026 issue of Bearing News dedicates page 61 to one of our most significant engineering projects: a complete split bearing support system developed by Atlantic Bearing Services (ABS) for a Plug&Grind® XL cement mill, for which ACB Custom Bearings manufactured The world’s largest split toroidal roller bearing.
The solution combines a split spherical roller bearing on the fixed side with a 950 mm split toroidal roller bearing on the free side. Designed to enable installation without removing the mill’s main components, the system reduced the expected bearing replacement time from approximately seven days to just one or two.
From application-driven engineering and custom manufacturing to field assembly, and operational validation, the project demonstrates our ability to deliver an integrated solution for critical industrial equipment.
