Our ABS Miami team recently stepped away from their usual routine to enjoy a guided visit to El Pasado Mío / My Own Past: Afrodescendant Contributions to Cuban Art at the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami.
Featuring works by 43 Afro-Cuban artists from the 1820s to the present, the exhibition offers a fascinating journey through two centuries of Cuban art and highlights the important contributions of artists of African descent to the country’s cultural history.
It was a great team initiative and a different way to spend time together, discover an important part of Miami’s cultural heritage, and connect with a history that feels especially close to many of us.
Thank you to the University of Miami, the Lowe Art Museum, Simone Sutnick, and Dr. Tola Porter for guiding us through the exhibition and making the visit such an enjoyable and engaging experience.
