Description

In partnership with one of our customers, ABS faced Pantaleón’s challenge to develop a 65-ton speed reducer in record time, which could be placed in a confined space and with difficult installation conditions. This split torque reducer can easily deliver a torque of 4600 kN · m and a power of 1500 HP to drive a cane mill that grinds 12,000 metric tons of sugar cane daily.

This reducer was manufactured and shipped to the mill in parts of no more than 20 tons, so as not to exceed the capacities of the lifting equipment available at the installation site. After the successful assembly of the low-speed reducer, ABS & MGS added the high-speed reducer, which receives the power from the prime motor at 5000 min-1 and delivers it to the low-speed reducer at 1193 min-1.
