Néstor Belsol, Global Supply Chain Manager at Atlantic Bearing Services (ABS), represented the company as part of the delegation from the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) and the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA) —currently in the process of merging to form the Motion Power Manufacturers Association (MPMA), on whose Board of Directors ABS actively serves— during a strategic two-day initiative in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the mission, the AGMA/ABMA delegation held high-level meetings with congressional offices and senior officials from key federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The discussions focused on advocating for policies that strengthen domestic manufacturing and reinforce the resilience, strategic independence, and global leadership of the U.S. industrial base. Topics addressed included trade and tariff policy, innovation and advanced manufacturing, support for SMEs, workforce development, and key regulatory issues such as export-import controls, product dumping, and intellectual property protection.

A key outcome of the visit was the Department of Commerce’s formal request for the AGMA and ABMA delegation to submit a proposal outlining how the industry can help build a more resilient and competitive U.S. industrial base, with reduced strategic dependence on China.

Representing a strategically vital industry, gears and bearings stood at the center of the conversation in Washington—ensuring their voice is heard in shaping the industrial and manufacturing policy needed to secure global leadership.

ABS contributed its global perspective and expertise in supply chain strategy throughout the discussions, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the industry and actively supporting the decisions that will define the future of advanced manufacturing in the United States.
